According to Mr Green he understood the task at hand and was happy to get going. Our first leg of the journey was from Cape Town to Trawal. A 270km drive to an essential stop. Besides the pre-requisite truck inspection, stretching your legs, draining your tears and restocking the necessary edible supplies, Trawal was important for another reason. Biltong. Trawal has a biltong shop, not a butchery, a biltong shop. They make some of the best and when you drive long hours it becomes an essential snack.
It was at this point that I realised that my new sidekick had no idea what he had gotten himself into. His complaints were many. His questions even more. Complaint number one, “You drive too fast, how am I supposed to keep up?” Complaint number two, “You don’t stop often enough!!!”
