Digital order information

Digital Downloads.

This policy explains how eBooks and other digital products purchased through Lekker Books are delivered, accessed, downloaded and used.

Last updated: 15 July 2026

Save your purchased file after downloading it.

Download links may be subject to security controls, access limits or expiry periods. Keep a secure personal backup of the file once it has been downloaded.

01

Scope of this policy

This policy applies to eBooks and other downloadable digital products purchased through the Lekker Books website.

It should be read together with the Lekker Books Terms and Conditions, Refunds and Returns Policy and Privacy Policy.

Printed books and physical products are covered by the Shipping and Delivery Policy and are not governed by the digital-delivery process described here.

02

How digital products are delivered

Digital products are delivered electronically and are not shipped by courier.

After successful payment confirmation, download access may be provided through one or more of the following:

  • The order confirmation page
  • The customer account Downloads section
  • The completed-order email
  • A secure download link supplied by Lekker Books

Access may not be released while payment is pending, being verified, declined, cancelled or reversed.

03

Accessing a purchased download

  1. 01
    Complete payment

Finish the checkout and wait for payment confirmation.

  2. 02
    Check the order confirmation

The download may be available immediately on the completed-order page.

  3. 03
    Check your email

Look for the Lekker Books order or download email, including in your spam folder.

  4. 04
    Sign into your account

Open the Downloads section when the purchase is linked to a customer account.

  5. 05
    Save the file securely

Download and retain a personal backup for future use.

04

Customer accounts and email addresses

Customers should use a valid email address that they can access when placing a digital order.

The same email address may be required when signing into an account, retrieving the order or requesting assistance.

Lekker Books is not responsible for access delays caused by an incorrect, inactive or inaccessible email address supplied by the customer.

Contact Lekker Books promptly when an email-address error is discovered. Proof of purchase or identity may be requested before order details are changed or access is restored.

05

Available file formats

The format supplied for an eBook or digital product should be displayed on the product page, product description or order information.

Common formats may include:

  • PDF
  • EPUB
  • Another format specified on the product page

Not every title is available in every format. Purchasing an eBook does not automatically include all existing or future file formats.

The supplied format may differ from the print edition in page numbering, layout, typography or image placement.

06

Devices, software and compatibility

Customers are responsible for checking that their device, operating system and reading application support the advertised file format.

A PDF file normally requires compatible PDF-reading software. An EPUB file normally requires an EPUB-compatible reading application or device.

Lekker Books cannot guarantee compatibility with every device, application, browser, e-reader or software version.

A functioning file may not qualify as defective solely because a particular customer device or application cannot open it.

Lekker Books may provide reasonable guidance but cannot provide technical support for every third-party device or reading application.

07

Download limits and expiry

A digital product may be protected by a download limit, access period, security token or expiring link.

Any applicable limit may be shown on the order page, customer account, download email or product information.

Download controls are used to protect the product and prevent unauthorised distribution. They do not transfer ownership of the copyright to the customer.

Customers should download and securely save their files while access remains available.

Lekker Books may restore reasonable access after verifying a valid purchase, but permanent or unlimited re-downloadability is not guaranteed unless expressly stated.

08

Personal-use licence

Purchasing a digital product gives the customer a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the supplied file for personal and lawful purposes.

The purchase does not transfer copyright, publishing rights, resale rights, distribution rights or ownership of the intellectual property.

The customer may store the file on personal devices and create reasonable personal backups, subject to any technical restrictions attached to the product.

09

Prohibited use

A purchased digital product may not be:

  • Shared publicly or privately with unrelated persons
  • Uploaded to a website, cloud folder or social platform
  • Distributed through email, messaging or file sharing
  • Resold, sublicensed or offered for rental
  • Copied for commercial distribution
  • Converted and redistributed in another format
  • Used to create an unauthorised derivative publication
  • Used to remove or avoid copyright, licence or security controls

A school, library, organisation, book club or business requiring multiple copies or broader usage rights should contact Lekker Books before distributing the product.

10

Copyright and ownership

Copyright remains with the applicable author, publisher, illustrator, photographer or other rights holder.

Product covers, text, images, illustrations, design and supplementary material may be separately protected.

Unauthorised copying or distribution may result in the suspension of download access, account restrictions and further action by Lekker Books or the applicable rights holder.

A copyright or ownership concern should be reported through the Contact page with enough information to identify the product and the claimed rights.

11

Missing or failed downloads

Contact Lekker Books when payment has been completed but the file or download link is unavailable.

Before contacting support, please:

  • Confirm that the order payment was successful
  • Refresh the completed-order page
  • Check the Downloads section of your account
  • Check your email spam and junk folders
  • Try a current web browser
  • Confirm that you are using the email address associated with the order

Include the order number and a screenshot of any error message when contacting support.

12

Incorrect, corrupted or defective files

Contact Lekker Books promptly when a downloaded file is incorrect, incomplete, corrupted, unreadable or materially different from the product purchased.

Lekker Books may ask the customer to confirm the file name, format, device, application used and error encountered.

Where possible, Lekker Books may first attempt to resolve the problem by:

  • Restoring download access
  • Replacing the file
  • Correcting the product configuration
  • Supplying a working copy in the purchased format
  • Providing reasonable download guidance

Where the issue cannot reasonably be corrected, the matter will be assessed under the Refunds and Returns Policy and applicable law.

13

Payments, pending orders and reversed transactions

Download access is normally made available only after the payment provider confirms successful payment.

Access may be delayed or withheld when a payment is pending, declined, cancelled, disputed, reversed or identified for verification.

A bank notification or payment screenshot does not always mean that the transaction has been completed and received by the store.

Lekker Books may temporarily suspend access while a payment dispute, chargeback or suspected unauthorised transaction is being investigated.

14

Cancellations and refunds

Digital products can usually be supplied and accessed immediately after payment. This makes them different from printed books that can physically be returned.

A change-of-mind refund may not be available after a file has been made available, downloaded or accessed, except where required by applicable law.

Refund requests may be considered when:

  • The wrong digital product was supplied
  • The file is materially defective
  • The file cannot reasonably be accessed or corrected
  • Lekker Books cannot provide the product that was purchased
  • A refund or cancellation is required by law

Lekker Books may first attempt to replace or correct a defective digital product before approving a refund.

Read the Refunds and Returns Policy
15

Account and download security

Customers are responsible for protecting their account passwords, email access and downloaded files.

Download links and account access should not be shared with another person.

Lekker Books may restrict or suspend access where there is reasonable evidence of:

  • Unauthorised file sharing
  • Repeated access from suspicious sources
  • Attempted avoidance of download controls
  • Fraudulent or reversed payment
  • Compromise of a customer account

Contact Lekker Books immediately if you believe your account or download link has been accessed without permission.

16

File corrections, editions and updates

Lekker Books or the applicable author or publisher may correct technical errors in a digital file after its original release.

A corrected replacement may be made available to previous customers where reasonably appropriate.

Purchasing one edition does not automatically entitle the customer to every future edition, revision, translation, format or expanded version.

Where a product has been replaced with a substantially new edition, it may be sold as a separate product.

17

Consumer rights

This policy must be read together with applicable South African consumer-protection and electronic-transaction legislation.

Nothing in this policy is intended to remove or reduce a consumer right that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Where applicable law provides a right or remedy that conflicts with a restriction in this policy, the legal right will take priority.

The appropriate remedy will depend on the nature of the product, the problem reported, whether the file was accessed and the circumstances of the transaction.

18
