Order information
Shipping and Delivery.
This policy explains how printed-book orders are processed, packaged, dispatched, tracked and delivered when purchased through Lekker Books.
Last updated: 15 July 2026
The delivery estimate begins after an order has been processed and handed to the courier. Processing may take longer where a book must first be sourced, printed or supplied by an author or publisher.
Scope of this policy
This policy applies to printed books and other physical products ordered through the Lekker Books website.
It should be read together with the Terms and Conditions and the Refunds and Returns Policy.
eBooks and other digital products are delivered electronically and are not sent by courier. Digital delivery is explained separately in section 14.
Delivery destinations
Lekker Books delivers printed-book orders to eligible addresses supported by the delivery methods available during checkout.
The availability of delivery may depend on the destination, postcode, courier coverage, parcel size, product location and the selected delivery service.
Certain remote, rural, farm or restricted-access addresses may require an alternative delivery arrangement or may carry an additional courier charge.
A delivery option displayed during checkout remains subject to final address validation by Lekker Books and the appointed courier.
Available delivery options
The delivery methods available for an order are displayed during checkout.
Depending on the order and destination, these may include:
- Door-to-door courier delivery
- Delivery to an eligible collection point
- Local collection where specifically offered and confirmed
- Another delivery method arranged directly with Lekker Books
Not every delivery method will be available for every address, product or order.
A customer should not travel to collect an order unless Lekker Books has confirmed that the parcel is ready and supplied the collection details.
Delivery charges
Applicable delivery charges are calculated or displayed before the customer confirms the order.
Delivery charges may depend on:
- The destination and postcode
- The courier or delivery service selected
- The number and weight of the books
- The parcel dimensions
- Remote-area or special-handling charges
- Promotional or free-delivery offers
A delivery charge shown in the cart may be updated when the customer changes the address, delivery method or contents of the order.
Where an incorrect delivery charge results from incomplete or inaccurate address information, Lekker Books may contact the customer before dispatch to resolve the difference.
Order processing and dispatch
Processing begins after payment has been successfully confirmed and the order has passed any necessary verification.
Processing includes confirming availability, preparing the books, packaging the parcel, generating delivery documents and handing the order to the courier.
Orders placed after business hours, over weekends or on public holidays may only begin processing on the next applicable business day.
Some titles may be held by an author, publisher, printer or separate supplier. These orders may require additional processing before dispatch.
Where an order contains products with different availability periods, Lekker Books may wait until the full order is ready or may arrange separate deliveries where appropriate.
Estimated delivery periods
Delivery periods shown on the website, at checkout or in order communications are estimates rather than guaranteed arrival dates unless Lekker Books expressly confirms otherwise in writing.
Estimated courier time normally begins after the order has been processed and dispatched. It does not necessarily begin on the date the order was placed.
Actual delivery time may be affected by:
- The delivery destination
- Courier capacity and operating schedules
- Weekends and public holidays
- Remote-area delivery routes
- Stock or supplier availability
- Weather, road conditions or service disruptions
- Incomplete or incorrect delivery information
Lekker Books will communicate a material availability or fulfilment problem when it becomes aware of one.
Dispatch and tracking information
Where tracking is available, the tracking reference may be sent by email, displayed in the customer account or supplied through another order communication.
Tracking information may not update immediately after a parcel is prepared. The courier may first need to collect and scan it into the delivery network.
Tracking updates are supplied by the courier and may occasionally be delayed, incomplete or inaccurate.
Contact Lekker Books with the order number when tracking has not updated for an unreasonable period or indicates a delivery problem.
Delivery addresses and contact details
The customer is responsible for providing a complete and accurate delivery address, postcode, recipient name, telephone number and email address.
The address should include all information reasonably required by the courier, such as:
- Street number and street name
- Suburb, town or city
- Province and postcode
- Complex, building, unit or office number
- Business or organisation name where applicable
- Access instructions where reasonably necessary
- A reachable recipient telephone number
Lekker Books cannot guarantee that an address can be changed after processing or dispatch has begun.
Contact Lekker Books immediately if an address correction is required. Additional courier charges may apply when a parcel must be redirected or returned because incorrect information was supplied.
Failed delivery attempts and unclaimed parcels
The customer or an authorised recipient should be available to receive the parcel at the supplied address.
The courier may contact the recipient or make further delivery arrangements after an unsuccessful attempt. Courier practices differ and additional attempts are not guaranteed.
A parcel may be returned to the sender where:
- The address is incomplete or incorrect
- The recipient cannot be contacted
- Access to the property is unavailable
- The parcel is refused
- A collection deadline expires
- The courier cannot complete delivery
Where a parcel is returned for reasons caused by incorrect customer information, non-collection or repeated failed delivery, the customer may be responsible for reasonable return and redelivery charges.
Delivery delays
Lekker Books will take reasonable steps to process and dispatch orders within the communicated or agreed period.
Delays may occur because of courier disruption, supplier delays, stock shortages, severe weather, road closures, industrial action, load constraints, public emergencies or other circumstances outside Lekker Books’ reasonable control.
Lekker Books will attempt to obtain updated information from the relevant courier or supplier when a material delay is reported.
Where fulfilment cannot reasonably be completed, Lekker Books will contact the customer to discuss an appropriate resolution, which may include waiting for the product, selecting an alternative or cancelling the affected item.
Damaged parcels or books
Inspect the parcel and books as soon as reasonably possible after delivery.
Contact Lekker Books promptly if the packaging or contents appear damaged.
Please retain and photograph:
- The outer packaging
- The courier label
- Any visible damage to the parcel
- The front and back of the affected book
- The specific damaged area
Do not discard the packaging until Lekker Books has assessed the matter, because it may be required for a courier or supplier claim.
Read the Refunds and Returns PolicyMissing or incorrectly delivered parcels
Contact Lekker Books when tracking indicates delivery but the parcel cannot be located.
Before reporting a parcel as missing, check with other household members, reception staff, security personnel, neighbours or another authorised recipient who may have accepted it.
Lekker Books may ask the courier for proof of delivery, delivery coordinates, recipient details or an investigation into the parcel.
Investigations are subject to courier processes and may require reasonable time to complete.
Report a parcel delivered to the wrong address or containing the wrong products as soon as possible and do not dispose of or use incorrectly supplied goods while the matter is being investigated.
International orders
International shipping is available only where an international delivery option is displayed during checkout or expressly arranged and confirmed by Lekker Books.
International orders may be subject to additional courier costs, customs procedures, import duties, taxes, clearance fees and destination-country requirements.
Unless Lekker Books expressly states otherwise, the recipient is responsible for charges imposed by the destination country or its authorities.
International delivery periods are estimates and may be affected by customs processing, border controls, local courier networks and destination-country restrictions.
Lekker Books does not guarantee that every title can be exported or delivered to every country.
eBooks and digital delivery
eBooks and other digital products are not physically shipped and do not carry a courier delivery charge.
After successful payment, the download may be made available through the order confirmation page, the customer account, the order email or another secure delivery method.
The customer should use the same email address used during checkout when accessing an order or requesting support.
Contact Lekker Books with the order number if payment was successful but the digital file is unavailable, incorrect or defective.
